From Red Carpet to Sandy Shores: Perfecting Your Formal & Event Wear Alterations

What We Alter — Gowns, Suits & Everything In-Between

Women’s Formal Dresses & Gowns

From full-length evening gowns to cocktail dresses, we handle:

  • Hem shortening (with or without original detailing)

  • Bust, waist, and hip adjustments for a sculpted fit

  • Strap shortening or reshaping necklines

  • Adding or removing sleeves

  • Seam refinements for silk, chiffon, satin, or embellished fabrics

  • Lining replacements for comfort and structure

Men’s Suits & Jackets

Whether it’s a three-piece suit, a sharp dinner jacket, or a relaxed linen blazer for a seaside ceremony, we can:

  • Adjust sleeve length and shape (with or without functioning buttonholes)

  • Adjust waist on trousers to avoid the saggy look

  • Take in or let out jacket seams for a custom fit

  • Taper trousers for a clean silhouette and a refined modern approach

  • Replace or reinforce linings for comfort in all-day wear

Beach Weddings, Garden Parties & Other Relaxed Events

Not all formal occasions are black tie. Destination and outdoor weddings, such as those on the beach, call for lighter fabrics, softer tailoring, and more movement. We can adapt your garments for these settings by:

  • Shortening hems for sand-friendly movement

  • Adjusting the fit, take in or let out

  • Relaxing jacket structure for comfort in warm climates

  • Securing light fabrics like chiffon or linen against wind and movement

Our Appointment Process

We offer a personalised fitting experience in our private studio to ensure each client’s garment is handled with precision and care.

  1. Initial Booking & Details
When you request an appointment, we’ll ask for key details — your event date, garment type, fabric, and any known alterations required. For weddings, we’ll also ask whether you’re part of the bridal party, a guest, or the couple themselves.

  2. In-Studio Fitting
During your appointment, we’ll pin and assess the garment on you to ensure a flawless fit. You can bring shoes and accessories to ensure all proportions work together.

  3. Alterations & Craftsmanship
Our skilled team will complete your alterations using techniques suitable for each fabric type. For delicate or vintage garments, we may suggest reinforcement or extra care steps.

  4. Final Fitting & Collection
Once alterations are complete, you’ll try on your garment again to ensure every seam and hem is perfect before collection. Please bring a shirt for the suit with shoes and shoes and undergarments for a gown.

Why You Need to Book Early

We require at least 4 weeks’ notice before your event to ensure we can offer the time and craftsmanship your garment deserves. During spring and summer, our busiest seasons, early booking is essential to avoid disappointment — especially for the wedding season.

Appointments must be booked in advance; unfortunately, we cannot accept walk-ins for alteration fittings.

Your Garment, Your Confidence

A perfectly tailored outfit isn’t just clothing — it’s an investment in feeling your best. Whether it’s the elegant drape of a gown, the crisp line of a lapel, or the comfortable ease of a beach-appropriate suit, professional alterations ensure you arrive at your event looking as good as you feel.
